What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial release is a fast-growing form of massage and manual therapy that targets the fascial layers of the body, releasing long standing tension in the muscles and joints, which helps release chronic pain, tension, and stress within the body. Slowly stretching the tissue in a variety of directions with passive and active movement helps to make these changes stick long term and provides the long term pain and tension relief people seek with massage therapy.
As your body develops tension over the years, patterns of tension emerge that can include multiple areas of body. The result of these tense myofascial patterns is the development of pain throughout the body that is rooted elsewhere. This is often the reason why pain and symptoms can be difficult to release and requires a skilled practitioner that can assess the pattern, discover the root cause and release it for long term relief.
Some key benefits of myofascial release include:
- Pain relief
- Ease of tension
- Postural correction
- Better range of motion
- Better aging
- More energy
- Increased body confidence
- Better embodiment
- Stronger mind-body connection
