Myofascial Release (MFR)

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a technique that creates a deep stretch in the tissue to free chronic tension from the body. Used as the primary technique in Rolfing, ART, and other advanced therapies, MFR is excellent for improving posture, reducing tension-related pain, and better overall movement. This technique is used in our Deep Tissue Massage, Bodywork Therapy and Sports Recovery sessions where needed.

Learn more about Valorie

Being a dancer and dance teacher/choreographer, and both of her parents being fitness coaches, movement and exercise have always been a natural part of Valorie’s daily life. But after having 2 children and enduring a couple traumatic accidents, she was hit with a barrage of health issues that forced her to quit dancing, and exercising entirely. She was left without an explanation until 2018, when she was diagnosed with scoliosis and a fractured tailbone that had gone untreated for years.

Realizing how disconnected she had been from her own health, and after several episodes of neck spasms that left her bed-ridden for days, she sought help from a clinical massage therapist for the very first time. She entered the clinic skeptical and unable to move, but left completely free of pain and with full range of motion. She was inspired, and decided that she wanted to develop that same skillset to help others experience the relief and joy that she was feeling.

In January 2022, she finally enrolled at the NC School of Advanced Bodywork, and immediately knew she was doing exactly what she was meant to do. Her background in dance and fitness helped her view the body as a whole picture, and the ability to explain and treat muscular imbalances she was noticing in herself and others around her was deeply gratifying. Being a relational person, she thrived in clinic sessions, getting to know her clients and helping them feel comfortable and welcomed. After graduating at the top of her class, she has been able to carry not only her technical knowledge, but also her warm and compassionate nature into her professional career.

Valorie’s work has been described as deep, purposeful, and intuitive. She understands the need to get to the root of the problem, and to not just treat the symptoms. She is open to working with all persons, and believes that the power of touch in the healing process is fueled by a positive presence and a caring intention. She combines her love of people with her love of bodywork in her practice, as she honors the physical and emotional relationship between therapist and client, and greatly values each person’s unique design.

In her spare time, you can find Valorie in a dance studio taking classes again, doing yoga with her daughters, hiking in the mountains, or weight lifting. She credits her ability to move and be an active mom to massage and bodywork, and has experienced firsthand that you cannot care for others if you ignore your own needs.

“Every person’s body is a physical representation of their life story. Massage and bodywork is a way to read that story in an entirely new way, and I feel privileged to be a part of it. I’m able to move and dance again, and I want others to be able to do the same.”

No. We cannot diagnose. Only a doctor can make a diagnosis.

We can and do use orthopedic testing to determine if bodywork is recommended for your issue. If we find that the test we perform is a positive then we may recommend that you go to a medical practitioner for a diagnosis.

Since every one of our therapists is an independent contractor we allow each therapist to decide whether they require credit card information to hold an appointment.

If the therapist does require credit card information to hold the appointment then that therapist will contact you to get that information so that they can put it securely in Square. Your card will not be charged and no amount will be held for the appointment.

If you cancel within 24 hours of the appointment or do not show up for the appointment then half of the price of the session will be charged to the card on file. Thank you for your understanding and please call us with any questions.

Body Heal Therapy is a holistic approach to pain relief. Since the human body moves as a unit, rather than in individual pieces, we often compromise for repetitive patterns and postures with unrelenting tension in other areas that can cause pain. By addressing these patterns, we can go beyond providing temporary help to the area causing discomfort, and instead, treat the root cause with lasting results.
